Opening seminar
Within the PUCAFREU programme, a legal seminar (in French) titled « Legal frameworks regarding Unaccompanied Children: European and French levels » has been held on the 22th of October 2012 in the Law Faculty of Poitiers. About 80 participants listened to four speakers.
International conference
The seminar was followed by two intense days of conference, held on 23 & 24th of October 2012 in the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme et de la Société, University of Poitiers, France. About 80 participants attended conferences and workshops of 45 speakers.
The variety of countries (most European countries, Tunisia and USA) and disciplines (educators, psychologists, lawyers, academics in different domains, institutional actors, lobbying experts, etc) represented among both public and speakers led to rich discussions, debates and interactions after each conference, where the public could interact with speakers, ask questions or develop their personal experience as professionals working directly or indirectly with Unaccompanied Children.
The conferences were simultaneously in French and English, thanks to the presence of two translators.
In parallel…
Two exhibitions were presented in parallel all along the conferences. The first one was composed by Julien Faure’s reportage done during Spring 2012on unaccompanied children lacking protection in Paris. The second one presented Chiara Tamburini’s pictures on detention centers and borders in Europe.
