Workstream 2: Platform of Experts

Description

The second action involves the constitution and launching of an international, multidisciplinary and multilingual platform of experts in the issue of children migration including mainly legal practitioners (legal representatives, lawyers, legal guardians, administrative authorities, children’s attorneys, children’s court judges, etc.) but also practitioners (educators, psychologists, social workers, etc.) and academics from different disciplines.

 This multidisciplinary network will allow its members to exchange relevant information and knowledge from multiple sides:

 (a) Social, pedagogical, anthropological and ethnological information from the field will be very valuable to academic research and a very useful tool for legal practitioners in their work with the members of the target group;

(b) Legal notions and procedural know-how will constitute a valuable support for field practitioners when accompanying and supporting unaccompanied children to assert their fundamental rights;

(c) Methodological aspects and theoretical frameworks from different academic disciplines will assist and  help legal practitioners to a better understanding of the implications of their task.

In addition, the platform will work as a space of exchange of good practices and as a forum to identify bad practices at the European level (the platform will be open to experts from other EU countries than those constituting the scope of the project). Finally, the design and implementation of awareness campaigns addressed to other legal practitioners, key institutional actors, policy-makers and general public will be another asset of this action.

The platform will be launched on the 25th October 2012.
